SATURN General Assembly

SATURN consortium partners at University College Cork

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to welcome nearly 40 participants (both in person ad online) from across our project consortium to our fourth General Assembly of the SATURN project which was held at University College Cork, and hosted by our coordinating partners at MaREI, the SFI Centre for Energy Climate and Marine Research!

This event took place on the 5th and 6th of March, and gave our research partners the opportunity to discuss the progress on the SATURN project to date, and our plans for the remaining 12 months! We got to catch up with partners on a range of actions including:

  • the development of ISO standards for ship URN measurements in shallow water

  • the SATURN project's 'OceanPlanner' marine spatial planning platform that assesses the cost-benefits of noise reduction scenarios at regional, fleet, and vessel levels

  • the delivery of our first SATURN policy brief on the need for standardised bioacoustical terminology, and

  • the exciting update that the SATURN terminology standard has been adopted as WD1 as of February 2024!

As part of the final session of the event, Robabe Ahmadi from TiHO also gave us our first sneak peak at the latest YouTube film created for SATURN. This film summarises the experiments and fieldwork carried out within Work Package 3 in the project, and we absolutely can't wait to share it with you all soon!
