A new review paper from SATURN researchers describes the extent of research on underwater noise conducted within the last decade to support environmental targets in the EU. Significant research has been conducted in support of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, which requires that levels of underwater noise pollution do not adversely affect marine ecosystems.
The paper, which highlights key research gaps and opportunities for future research into underwater noise measurement and modelling, was published in the journal Ocean & Coastal Management in September 2022.
